A delegation with representatives from all political parties in Southern Sudan arrived today from Kenya where it went to learn the lessons from the recent Constitutional Referendum.
Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly Controller, Peter Bashir Gbandi, headed the delegation. He told journalists that his team was encouraged not to worry about the short time frame for the vote as long as the people of Southern Sudan had the will and determination to take part in the referendum.Mr. Gbandi pledged that Southern Sudan parties would unite to provide leadership ahead of the referendum.
The delegation met with the Parliamentary Committee that oversaw the new Kenyan Constitution, civil society members that took part in the preparation for the referendum, and the speaker of the Kenyan parliament among others.
Eight parties were represented in the tour plus a member from Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau.
