Government officials are learning how to use data information from the Census to increase skills and capacity for policies and planning purposes.

Over 40 participants, four from each of the ten states, started in Juba today a four-day workshop on the use of census and statistic information to promote development.

UN Population Fund head of Southern Sudan office, Kondwani Mwangulube, told SCR News that the aim of the worship was to enable state and GoSS planers to use data results from the census.

Mr. Mwangulube said the participant would learn how to use population data to plan for development and monitor and evaluate programs’ effectiveness.

Mr. Mwangulube explained that apart from learning policy strategy designing, the participants would assess population trends and their needs.

He added that the socio-cultural and economic situation of women was another important aspect.

The workshop is organized by UNFPA in collaboration with Southern Sudan Centre for Census and Statistic Evaluation.
