A military alliance by Uganda, DR Congo and South Sudan against Ugandan rebels will affect the residents in Western Equatoria.
BBC announced that the SPLA together with DR Congo and Ugandan troops will form a brigade to pursue Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels operating between South Sudan, DR Congo and Central African Republic.Ganun Victor, a resident of Western Equatoria, told SCR News that he would not favour the military alliance against the LRA.
Mr. Victor said the military solution was already tried and it did not work.
He added that a military solution to the LRA issue would increase atrocities against the locals.
Mr. Victor said he preferred a negotiated process to solve the LRA problem and avoid more displacements and killings.
He warned that another attempt at the military option would be disastrous to the area.
The Ugandan army is operating in Western Equatoria for over one year against LRA forces.
