Southern Sudan Anti-corruption Commission presented today its five-year strategy to defeat corruption in Southern Sudan until 2014.

GoSS and anti-corruption officials met in Juba today to draw mechanisms and strategies to fight corruption in south Sudan at four levels including government, civil servants, private sector and the civil society.

Southern Sudan Anti-corruption Commission Executive Secretary, Deng Yai, told SCR News that in five years Southern Sudan would be corruption free.

Mr. Yai said the commission will crusade against corruption across the ten states using many means to pass its key messages to citizens.

Mr. Yai said that his commission developed a comprehensive strategy and got the money to facilitate and implement the programme to eliminate corruption.

He added that the commission received almost 16 million Sudanese pounds and part of it would be used to establish fully equipped offices in the ten states and run campaign activities.

Corruption in southern Sudan has been rampart since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, affecting development and provision of services in the region.
