Hujang Kingdom of Lotuho community enthroned a new ruler to succeed deceased King Victor Akang Lomilu.
The new king, Fitali Abure Lomilu, was crowned at a ceremony in Tirangore village of Hiyala Payam, Torit County, on Saturday.The enthronement of the new ruler followed a series of rituals that included exhuming the remains of the late King Victor Akang Lomilu who died in January this year.
King Fitali Abure Lomilu explained that according to the tradition, the bones of King Akang were stored with the remains of his mother.
King Abure explained that exhuming the remains of the late King Akang paved the way for his own coronation as the new Hujang ruler.
King Akang died in Juba on his way to Khartoum for treatment after a short illness.
Hujang Kingdom covers nine villages that include Tirangore, Avorere, Logurunyu, Lolianga, Lofi, Huma, Kekerek, Afayo and Omeni
King Abure’s enthronement was attended by Eastern Equatoria authorities, including Governor Louis Lobong Lojore, High Court president Charles Oyoo, state ministers and members of parliament.
Governor Lobong praised the traditional leadership, urging the community to maintain and respect their king.
He added that there should be peaceful co-existence between the Lotuho and the neighbouring communities.
