CHINA PROMISES POST REFERENDUM INVESTMENT IN SOUTHSUDAN

The Chinese authorities pledged to invest in Southern Sudan after the upcoming referendum on self-determination takes place in early January.

Eastern Equatoria governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, disclosed this to the crowd who welcomed him on Saturday on his return from a visit to China integrating in a GoSS delegation.

Eastern Equatoria state minister for Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries, Jerome Surur Gama was also among the GoSS delegation to China.

He told Radio Emmanuel that the one-week study tour aimed at learning about reforms in China and how the country managed to sustain its huge population.

Mr. Surur said China fed over a billion people while the South Sudan struggles with poverty and hunger every year.

He added that the delegation invited Chinese investors mostly in the agriculture sector to come to South Sudan to set up pilot projects for the local communities to learn better techniques of food production.
