The President of the Government of Southern Sudan signed an executive order pardoning senior army officers who rebelled before and after the April elections.Salva Kiir Mayardit granted an amnesty to Major General Gabriel Tanginye, General George Athor Deng and Colonel Gatluak Gai, Sudan Tribune said.

The executive order urged the rebel commanders to rejoin the rank and file of the SPLA forces.

The Government of Southern Sudan accused the Sudan Armed Forces of supporting the renegade officers saying they were using them to destabilize southern Sudan.

SPLA forces last August caught a cargo helicopter supplying food and ammunitions to men loyal to renegade commander Athor.

The pilots were released two days ago while the helicopter seats at the cargo area in Juba International Airport.
