Sudan’s authorities know who have kidnapped Russian pilots, Russia’s presidential envoy on Sudan Mikhail Margelov said today.
He made these comments following his discussion with Sudan’s Ambassador Mohammad Hussein Zaruk.

He told reporters that official Hartum knows already who have kidnapped Russian pilots although it is not clear where the hostages were taken on the ground or in the helicopter

The ambassador assured Mr. Margelov that “Sudan’s government does everything possible to free the Russian citizens.

Mr. Margelov is convinced that the incident proves that Sudan’s government is unable to provide security for foreign citizens in its territory. He commented on the fact that the present kidnapping was the second case of the kind in Sudan over the past two months.

He confirmed that though Sudan’s military reacted promptly, these facts cause Russia’s concern” and prove “there is neither peace nor stability in Darfur, and the official authorities do not control the situation.

Three Russian pilots were held hostage in Nyala Darfur yesterday.
