Juba County teachers called off today their three-week strike over unpaid salaries and decided to resume classes tomorrow during a general assembly at Juba Day Secondary Schools.
The teachers issued a note saying that after the “harmonious meeting” with Governor Clement Wani Konga, on Thursday, “the strike is uplifted immediately.”
Peter Lodu heads the Emergency Committee of Basic and Secondary School Teachers. He told Bakhita FM that in today’s general assembly the teachers were briefed about the meeting with the governor and decided to return to teaching tomorrow.
Mr. Lodu said the government and the teachers at last understand each other and they got the payment of October.
He promised students that teachers will make a special effort to cover for the three weeks the strike lasted.
Mr. Lodu added that the teachers are opening tomorrow expecting that they get their salaries for November and December on time.
