The meeting between Central Equatoria State authorities and striking teachers over salaries delay that took place this morning in Juba ended without agreement. The Governor of Central Equatoria, Clement Wani Konga, together with his minister for education and the state directors general for primary and secondary education, met with representative teachers from Juba county to discuss the problem of unpaid October salaries.
Fr. Peter Lodu, from Juba Technical Secondary School, told Sudan Catholic Radio News that the meeting ended in a stalemate. Fr. Lodu said teachers are going to seat down to decide the next step to take and they will refer to the President of Southern Sudan.
He added that the Government of Central Equatoria has to pay the month of October in order to stop the strike. Fr. Lodu, who spoke on behalf of the strikers, said removing salaries is like killing public servants.
