A three day capacity building training on pest management has started on Wednesday in Magwi, Eastern Equatoria State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training was organized by Welt hunger hilfe organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is building the capacity of partners and other stakeholders on integrated pest management, agricultural extension and accountability mechanisms to affected populations in Magwi and Torit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Director of Cooperative and Rural Development in Magwi, Can-Wat Micheal, says the training came at the right time because most farmers are faced with problems of pests and diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPests and diseases are really disturbing because when we say we have to buy pesticides is very expensive, why don\u2019t we use the one which we have locally there but only that we don\u2019t know how to make it? So today this four days we would have done a lot and we shall do something better\u201d, said Wat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Integrated pests management approaches are effective in controlling pests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training also aims at sharing experiences and knowledge while adopting indigenous knowledge into modern farming methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will help farmers to check out on the best possible extension methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The capacity building targets twenty participants, the partners to Welt hunger hilfe and the agriculture department from the two counties of Magwi and Torit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
