In a significant milestone for the Church in the Nuba Mountains pastoral region, four seminarians were ordained as deacons, with the event also marking the appointment of Rev. Fr. Peter Suliman as Episcopal Vicar.
The ordination ceremony was presided over by Bishop Christian Carlassare of Bentiu, who stepped in for the Bishop of El-Obeid, unable to attend due to insecurity in the region.

During his homily, Bishop Carlassare emphasized that the ministry of the Word is a shared responsibility, not limited to religious leaders.
He also warned the faithful against distractions and the danger of straying from the one true God.
The event, the first of its kind in the Nuba Mountains, drew hundreds of attendees including leaders from various Christian denominations, showcasing a spirit of ecumenical unity.
Authorities from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) were also present at the ordination.
