Abyei community in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State condemned the barbaric attacks on Aniet town and its surrounding on Thursday 10 February 2022.
Abyei community chairperson Alor Deng Koor says the attacks launched allegedly by Ajak Kuac sons of Twic County of Warrap State led to partial destruction of Jol Jok market.
He explained that there were some deaths, injuries, burning of number of houses and total destruction of Aniet market.
Deng says before the incident some open letters of attacks were written from Twic County Commissioner to Chief Administrator of Abyei showing the bad intension ahead.
He is urging the central government to urgently intervene and form a fact-finding committee and apprehend the criminals and bring them to book.
The chairperson says chief of Abyei Administrative Area on 31 January 2022 replied in letter confirming that historical this area belonged to his people since creation.
He is urging the Abyei citizens in Wau to be calm to keep social co-existence among communities in Western Bahr El Ghazal while waiting for the national government to intervene.
The official made these remarks to media houses on Wednesday in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State.
