The Bishop of Torit Catholic Diocese Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi has encouraged the faithful to overcome challenges through prayers.

Bishop while preaching to the faithful during the Easter celebration advises Christians not to sleep before prayers.

He underscored when people sleep without prayers Satan will move around their beds causing bad dreams.

The Catholic prelates however encourage Christians to acquaint themselves in prayers so that their children will grow with strong faith in Christ.

” No Christian should sleep without praying because when you sleep that is another Satan, Satan will move around your bed and will bring bad dreams.

“You will not sleep well adopt yourself in prayer let your message start with prayer in your house, you should have time to pray, time to give a message to other people and children who will be coming from a prayerful house this child will fear God.”

The Church leader further calls on the faithful to leave their suffering aside and rather do their best in glorifying the name of God the Father.

He urges parents to teach their children how to pray so that children will grow well without worries

“We may have some difficult challenges leave them aside do the best for the lord and once we allow God to be glorified in us like in the choir when you glorify God with your songs we will be sanctified in him as he also blesses all of us”

“Let your children learn how to pray in the house because you parent once you allow your children really to be faithful you will never be worried even though you are not there in the future you will know that this child will go well.”

The Catholic bishop prays that the resurrection of the lord helps people who give testimony to others.

He mentioned that the word Christian does not only end in the word but should reflect in the body of the person doing charitable work.

“May the resurrection of the Lord Jesus help us to be new people, people of faith, people who give testimony to the people, people when people see they say yes these are Christians these are people of Jesus, let people see us from our talks, they talk like Christians, they behave like Christians that exactly what God wants from us.”

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Yei;  Alex Lodiong Sakor Eyobo in his homily to the congregation explains that the day is shifted from Thursday to Tuesday due to pastoral reasons and to allow priests who minister from distance places to celebrate the Lord’s supper on Thursday evening.

The prelate narrates that in the ancient times the day is celebrated together with the Lord’s Supper in the evening hours until when it was separated with guidance from the leadership of the church in the 20th century, during the times of Pope Pius and to morning hour to allow Christian involvement.

The Bishop turned to the anointed priests and advised them to draw closer to the Christian community to give them hope especially in the context of South Sudan where many people are subjected to suffering of different kinds.

He calls on the priest to offer consolation and encouragement services in person to those carrying burdens, imitating Jesus Christ amidst challenges.

He urges every citizens to embrace good tidings to enable liberation and happiness and he also mentioned that everybody has a duty to serve God through the power of the Chrism oil received during baptism.

Catholic Bishop of Torit Diocese Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi has encouraged the Christians to avoid suspecting themselves of doing wrong things citing that there moments where people begin to question their faith.

Bishop while preaching to the congregation at St. Peter and Paul cathedral tells Christians to be ready to die for the lord.

He stresses that Christians do ask themselves about what is going wrong but will not get answers while advises the faithful that God’s power is beyond the human thinking.

” that why in this procession as Jesus was going he want his followers to have that experience because Christianity is not just today I go for mass and tomorrow finish.”

He says when Christians undergo difficult situations does not mean that you cause it but that is God’s plan and temptation to know how strong your faith is.

He encourages Christians to use their five senses to reduce the negative thinking about what is happening in their daily lives.

“but Jesus is saying sometimes when you go through difficult situation doesn’t mean necessarily that you’re the causer of that problem like what Jesus did he went through difficult situation but it was not his fault”

Bishop Bernardino prays for God help in order to gives us power, so that we may continue to walk in this journey of faith together.

//so todays readings and todays occasion my dear brothers and sisters is a beginning of holy weeks, so we shall keep on walking and this holy week beginning from today onward till the resurrection Sunday, so may God help may God also gives us power that as we are going with him throughout this journey let us be through witnesses for him that witnessing this with our families with our schools, our church and our neighbors to bear witness for them//

The catholic prelate made the remarks to the congregation on Sunday at St. Peter and Paul cathedral during the Palm Sunday celebration in Torit.

The Catholic Bishop of the Wau Diocese, Matthew Ramijo Adam characterizes the leadership that people of God want saying must be someone who rules with humanity and embraces peace.
Bishop Ramijo explained that a true leader is supposed to rule people without causing violence and reflect Jesus Christ as the example of the good shepherd, as the reason why he succeeded in his kingdom.
He added that leaders always bear the burdens and problems of those they are responsible for, relieve them from pain, and show them solutions.
Bishop Ramijo mentions that in our current society, no leader cares about the circumstances of others, but priority over themselves and serving others.
Bishop Matthew Ramijo Adam presided over the Mass during Palm Sunday at Saint Mary’s Help of Christians Cathedral.
Palm Sunday is the Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels.

South Sudan Supreme Court has released the Catholic priest Father John Mathiang who was sentenced to 14 years in jail for allegedly involvement in the Bishop shooting in Rumbek.

His release came after an appeal from the defense team of the Priest and the court nullified the jailed team due to insufficient evidence to prove him guilty.

The Priest is among four suspects sentenced over the shooting of the then Bishop-elect for the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek, now Bishop Christian Carlassare.

The advocate of the freed Priest Doctor Geri Raimondo welcomed the move saying any person has the right to appeal to the Supreme Court which is the highest and last resort for any agreed person.

“Father John Mathiang was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by the High Court, later on, we appealed to the Court of Appeal for Greater Equatoria, and unfortunately the honorable Court of Appeal for greater confirmed the conviction and the sentence of 14 years.”

After the appeal to the Supreme Court, they found there was no insufficient evidence on allegations against Father Mathiang, “Says the defense team.”

Fr. Mathiang expressed his heartfelt to the Supreme Court of South Sudan and the defense team worked hard to find out the truth and set him free.

He calls on those who have been misunderstanding him to take courage and join hands together at the foot of the Cross where Jesus took all the sins of people upon himself and reconciled with God and one another.

The Catholic priest expresses his humbleness to Bishop Christian Carlasare of Rumbek Diocese, citing that he is his Bishop and he is not against his appointment.

“To my Bishop, Bishop Christian, you know how much I received you in Rumbek and how I handled your announcement, I have nothing against you, and I’m not opposing your appointment.”

Mathiang went ahead to appeal to the Country of South Sudan and the people of Lake State not me ashamed of him, adding that he has been there to serve as God called him to dedicate his life to Jesus Christ for their good and the good of the kingdom.

The Catholic priest shows his readiness to go back to the Diocese of Rembek and join hands together with his Bishop and fellow priests to continue his service as a priest.

Fr. Mathiang describes his being in prison as God’s call to witness another form of life.

Mathiang was convicted and sentenced to 14 years in a 25 April 2022 High Court ruling in which the judge said that the member of the Clergy of Rumbek Diocese had been found guilty alongside Moris Sebit Ater, Laat Makur Agok, and Samuel Makir for “participating directly or indirectly” in the attempted assassination.

The Department of Health at the Catholic Diocese of Wau has donated 24 motorbikes to the Parishes for easier facilitation of pastoral activities.

Diocesan Health Coordinator Dr. Jurel Payii Mamur says motorbikes will improve the mobility of the Parish Priest and deliver the word of God timely to rural congregations.

He articulates that, the idea came after they visited numerous Parishes and found out that the situation of the parishes is complicated during the rainy season for the words of God to reach the faithful in remote areas.

“AS a result they came up with the idea of helping those parishes with mobility to easy evangelization,” he narrates.

Priest blessing the motorbikes in Wau

Jurel Payii Mamur believes that the motorbikes will help Priests carry out their duties in the Parish by using the bikes to reach the centers to conduct a holy mass.

On the other hand, the representative of the Parish Priests Fr. Christo Justo thanks the donor and the bishop for their concern for the pastoral activities to be done easily.

He says that it will allow the parishes which are in the rural areas to bring the words of God closer to the people.

Justo urges his fellow Priest to make good use of the motorbikes given to them and must be careful when riding.

Meanwhile, the Vicar General in the Catholic Diocese of Wau Fr. Gabriel Kuol Akech, expressed his gratitude and pointed out the motorbikes are for the parish and not the parish priest.

The Catholic priests made these statements during the distribution of the Motorbike to Parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Wau on Friday [22-03-2024]

The young Catholic student training in Torit concluded with the call to end the existence of bad peer groups.

Elia Silver a student from Bishop Akio Memorial Secondary School advises students to stop joining bad peer groups who prefer drinking alcohol which does not promote humanity in society

He stated that associating with bad peer groups destroys lives and cannot bring solutions to problems but rather creates pollution to the community

Silver encourages young people to join young catholic students and other groups that promote the development of the country

“Do not join peer groups like the niggas and other groups that are like alcohol and that like actually not promoting the lives of humans who only destroy they won’t be the solution but they only are the pollution.”

Anna Abau Abahala a student from Airport View Secondary School advises fellow students to share with their parents to understand the movement of the young catholic students

She added that young catholic students promote interaction, unity, and togetherness among students.

“My advice to the entire parent, a parent is sometimes we ignore other things but YCS this movement brings interaction between us even though we are from a different denomination, different tribes, and different kinds of people through YCS unity we can manage.”

For his part, Ochaya Peter Amoko a student from Fr. Leopoldo secondary school in Magwi County is urging students who attended the training to disseminate the knowledge to the other students in their various school

He encourages parents to support and accept what their children have learned from the training for the growth of the family, community, and the country at large

“My message to all the students who have attended the program is the knowledge that they have learned from here during the training not to keep for themselves but to expand to nearby schools and also to all the students in their various schools and also as well as the community, the state, and nation at large.”

The students spoke to Radio Emmanuel in an exclusive interview on Friday in Torit at Fr. Saturlino’s Ohure hall.

The Emeritus Bishop of Yei Catholic Diocese Rt. Rev Erkolano Lodu Tombe has called on the leaders of South Sudan to bring permanent not relative peace which can take the country back to war.

This came at the time the country is gearing toward election in December as the Unity government is coming to an end next year.

Bishop says the word relative is diminishing the meaning of peace in South Sudan and he want to see permanent peace prevailed.

Emeritus Bishop Lodu asks the religious leaders to pray for the political leaders so that the word relative peace disappears and turn into permanent.

Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe was speaking during the two-day religious leader’s conference in Yei.

The forum was to share experiences and develop a common strategy on their role of the church in the ongoing transitional process and advocacy on the protection of civilians.

Bishop of Yei Diocese Alex Lodiong Sakor who is also the Chairperson of enter-religious peace committee highlight the objectives of the conference.

He says it focused on establishing network and foster collaboration and cooperation between religious leaders in the greater region of Yei.

The conference concluded on Wednesday was held under the theme “The best things come to those who don’t give up.”
