Contact was established for the first time with four Darfur peacekeepers who were reported missing more than five days ago and they are said to be well.

The unarmed South African police advisors, two women and two men, were abducted on Sunday after they left Nyala, in South Darfur, on a seven kilometre journey back to their private quarters.

UNAMID deputy chief, Mohamed Yonis, said he spoke to the missing peacekeepers by phone.

He added the peacekeepers reported to be unharmed.

Mr. Yonis called for their immediate and unconditional release.
