Residents of Yei’s Lutaya North area are very anxious about missing records of their registered plots in the payam office.

Team Leader for Land Allocation in Yei Payam Simon Khemis Mabe told Radio Easter that in 2011 they registered over 700 plots and distributed them to 717 eligible people in Lutaya North residential area.

He said he received a number of complaints about registered names missing in the payam’s records.

Fr Khemis said seven people complained to him on Thursday that their names were missing in the records and other people got the plots after a new registration was done in the same area.

He lamented that the payam and the team authorities were not working together on land allocation but denied a second registration.

Fr Khemis confirmed that at least two people owned the same piece of land.

He called on those who registered their plots and received the document to remain calm because their names are all registered with the Land Allocation Team.

Fr Khemis asked the new plot claimers to stop all forms of conflict and leave because the rightful owners are the ones registered with the Team.

He pointed out that land issues are crucial and need a lot of attention.

Fr Khemis urged all people to follow the legal procedure to acquire land and stop violent takeovers.
