Forty-five girl guides went through training in Lainya County of Central Equatoria State.
County commissioner Huda Michael Laila addressed the Girl Guides at Lainya Freedom Square, Radio Easter reportedShe said she welcomed girl guides activities because they supported girls’ informal education.
She said the majority of the population in Lainya is female but girls are forced out of school by early marriage.
Commissioner Huda encouraged trained girl guides to be a role model, lead the country and educate other girls.
Lainya County Inspector of Girl Child Education Helen Koropo said Girl Guides activities encouraged girl to continue their education and prevented early marriage.
She lamented that Lainya County had the highest school dropout rate mostly due to early marriage, parental negligence, alcoholism and too much work at home.
The two officers made their statements on Tuesday at Lainya Freedom Square during the graduation of 45 girl guides.
