Wau North Court magistrate on Thursday morning cleared a State Member of Parliament after nearly four months of detention accused of disrespecting the bodies of farmers killed in Farajalla, a claim that could land him in prison for three years.

Hassan Ngor Agwer had another nine charges dropped by the court last month, Voice of Hope reported.

Following the witnesses’ testimonies the judge declared Mr Ngor innocent and acquitted him due to lack of evidence pinned against him.

Cheers filled the court as the judge ordered Mr Ngor to be released.

After the verdict, Mr Ngor thanked those who made sure that justice prevailed through the establishment of the court.

He said his arrest and the arrest of other MPs was politically motivated and he would talk about it after he got some rest.

The court is expected to finalize its rulings on Wau deadly violence within three months though most cases have yet to be presented for public hearing.

So far two cases have been closed.

More than 100 people were arrested in the wake of the deadly street manifestations in Wau last December.
