Continued clashes between the army and rebels in Kalbat area of Pibor County and in Kelo, Pochalla County of Jonglei State are limiting the access of aid agencies to communities outside major population centres.

UNOCHA said in its week South Sudan Weekly Humanitarian Bulletin that people displaced in accessible areas continued to receive assistance.

It added that 190 families in Pibor and to 76 in Jalle Payam, Bor County, received household kits.

Health organizations helped treat over 330 violence-related casualties, primarily soldiers, from a variety of locations in Jonglei.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued instructions to SPLA commanders to facilitate the movement of humanitarian personnel and supplies throughout the country and in particular in Jonglei State.

UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, reported that 4,265 South Sudanese √ɬê the majority from Jonglei State √ɬêregistered as asylum seekers in Kenya’s Kakuma camp since the beginning of 2013.

The latest arrivals are mostly children fleeing violence in South Sudan and to take advantage of the education facilities in Kakuma.
