Five people were killed during an attack on a cattle camp at Morkomot village, Kawuto Payam of Kuron Boma, Kapoeta East County in Eastern Equatoria state by unknown gunmen last month.
Kapoeta East County Commissioner Titus Lokwachuma named the dead victims as Lokom Lolim, Lolup Achokmot, Lomokol Amile, Loyanai Alemtom and Lobunakejo Lobwata, Radio Emmanuel reported.Four people survive the deadly attack.
Forty-three calves stolen by the raiders were recovered after the attack.
Commissioner Lokwachuma said more people would have been killed and animals raided if the Toposa cattle keepers did not stage a strong defence to avert the attack.
He explains that over 300 heavily armed people attacked the cattle camp at night.
Mr Lokwachuma suspected the gunmen were from Jonglei State, saying security forces traced their footprints to Boma area.
