RECONCILIATION CAMPAIGN POSTPONES CONFERENCE

The conference to kick-start the Healing Journey towards National Reconciliation was postponed to June Êto give more time to civil society and faith based organizations, political parties and international stakeholders to prepare the event.

National Reconciliation Campaign Head of Communications Outreach Ayom Wol Dhal told Bakhita Radio that the conference that was originally scheduled for April 18 to 21 but it is rearranged for June 1 to 4 to allow more time for consultation.

Several issues including good governance, corruption and forgiveness are main features of the conference.

Ms Wol said she was happy with the postponement because it will give more time for consultation with the public.

Ms Wol advised citizens of South Sudan to speak out their concerns without fear and check if they are being listened to by the organizers.

The National Reconciliation process was adopted by the Government of Sudan and the SPLM in Naivasha, Kenya, during the signing of the CPA to heal the wounds from the 21-year civil war.

The process only takes place now and could last up to ten years.
