Central Equatoria State Ministry of Gender and Social Development is setting up an orthopaedic workshop in Yei River County to start producing artificial limbs for the amputees in the area.
The state director of the orthopaedic workshop Peter Ibra said the production of artificial limbs in Yei brings services nearer to the needy in Yei and Yambio cutting costs of travelling to Juba or Uganda to be fitted with new limbs.Yei River County Assistant Commissioner for Gender and Social Development Victoria Nasira Augustine told Radio Easter that the project is an old dream that finally comes true to help amputees in Yei and neighbouring counties.
Yei River County is hosting nearly 3,000 people who have lost parts of their bodies during the civil war.
