KIIR ASKS RELIGIOUS LEADERS TO PREPARE FLOCKS FOR THE ELECTIONS RESULTS

President Salva Kiir Mayardit invited religious leaders to his house today to discuss how to prepare citizens to accept the elections results in peace.

Mr. Kiir invited archbishops Paolino Lukudu Loro, from the Catholic Church, and Daniel Deng Bull from the Episcopal Church of Sudan together with the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church and the Secretary-General of South Sudan Supreme Muslim Council, Sayed Tahir Bior.

Isaak Kenyi is the secretary-general of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission and attended the meeting too.

Mr. Kenyi told SCR News that Mr. Kiir asked the religious leaders to appeal to their flocks to receive in prayer the polls results peacefully.

Mr. Kenyi said the religious leaders are preparing a message to be read on Sunday for the peaceful end of the elections.

He added that Mr. Kiir was very proud about the manner voters behaved during the elections, proving South Sudanese are not a violent people as they have been painted in some sectors.

Mr. Kenyi said Archbishop Paolino describe the attitude of people waiting to vote like people going to Holy Communion.

The National Elections Commission said yesterday the results should be announced on Tuesday.
