Western Bahr El Ghazal girls have done much better than boys at the Primary Leaving Exams.

State Education Minister Adil Athanasius Surur told journalists that 78 percent of girls passed while boys dropped from last year’s 79 percent to 68 percent, Voice of Hope reported.

He asked if the boys’ poor performance had anything to do with the violence that affected Wau last December.

Mr. Athanasius called on parents to enrol their children in compulsory intensive English courses to be able to start the new school programme for South Sudan.

There are three girls among the ten best schools and Catholic and private schools scored better than Government institutions.
