The department of agriculture in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State called on farmers to start early land preparation to reduce pest destruction on crops during the rainy season.
Yei River County Assistant Commissioner for Agriculture, Edmond Gogo told the press that early land preparation and planting helps to combat pests and have good harvest.He said grains, legumes and horticultural crops are the first to be planted in the beginning of the rainny season.
Mr Gogo said other seeds to be planted at the beginning of the rainy season include groundnuts, maize and cassava.
