The Matrix agreement signed on Tuesday between South Sudan and Sudan is set to finalize the cooperation agreements signed last September.

Petroleum and Mining Minister, Stephen Dhieu Dau told the press on Tuesday in Juba that Matrix agreement had set timeline and the parties responsible for implementation to follow the modalities set by the African Union High panel, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said the parties will speed up the implementation and oversee the progress.

Mr Dhieu said Khartoum government had asked South Sudan to compensate SudaPet with 1.2 billion dollars or it sues South Sudan to the court of arbitration.

He said with the new Matrix agreement, the two parties will sort out the issue within 60 days without going to the court of arbitration.

Mr Dhieu said the two countries were given go ahead for the oil operating companies to resume their work.

He added that the oil will start flowing into the markets in three weeks time based on the last October arrangements.

The matrix agreement was sign on Friday by the chief negotiator Pagan Amum Oketch and ministers of Water Resource and Irrigation, Paul Mayom, Justice, John Luk Jok and Petroleum and Mining, Stephen Dhieu Dau as witnesses.
