Residents of Torit have gone for five days without meat in their daily menu as the ongoing election exercise has affected supplies in town.
A tour of the town butcheries by Emmanuel Radio team witnessed empty stalls without their traders.A restaurant operator only identified as Madalina said after failing to find meat at the butchery she prepares tea and porridge to sell to the few clients in town.
Madalina added that food business declined from Friday as most clients travelled to their villages to vote.
House wife Aduina Victory who could not find meat at the butchery says she feeds her children on boiled maize commonly known as “medida”.
Thomas Okello resorted to buying green vegetable to take to his family.
One butcher, identified as Daniel, said the elections were more important than the meat business.
He added that he had travelled to Bor, in Jonglei State, to vote for a leader of his choice back home.
