Eight army commanders from Nzara and Gangura have attended a three-day training on Accelerated Learning Programme or ALP, in Yambio.
The training was organized by the State Alternative Education System in the Ministry of Education to coach the commanders on teaching principles and classroom management, Anisa Radio reported.Western Equatoria State Education Minister Pia Philip Michael appreciated the commanders’ commitments to becoming ALP teachers.
He acknowledged army efforts in fighting for peace in South Sudan, while urging them to continue the fight against illiteracy through ALP.
Mr Pia donated 800 Pounds and the teachers’ kits to the SPLA commanders.
The Minister told the commanders to go home and educate their soldiers about the Accelerated Learning Program.
Director of Alternative Education System Gibson Waru appreciated the commanders for volunteering for the training.
