NCP REACHES OUT TO OPPOSITION

The National Congress Party wants to include opposition groups in a future government, should it win Sudan’s first competitive elections in two decades.

The governing party of president Omar al-Bashir reaches out in a bid to save the credibility of the vote, boycotted by its main challengers.

Many opposition parties doubt the fairness of the polling which is ending today.

Ghazi Salaheddin, adviser to the head of state, declared that the invitation of the NCP was to all parties, also those who boycotted the elections.

The SPLM is presently a partner in the national unity government.

The ruling party in Southern Sudan withdrew its presidential candidate and boycotted the polling in some part of the country.

None of the political parties in Sudan have reacted to the invitation of the NCP to form a possible future coalition government.
