Voting in Bentiu, Unity state, resumed yesterday, after a strike by election officers who were demanding their allowances from the State High Elections Committee.

The strike, which occurred on Tuesday morning, paralyzed the voting process for hours.

The head of one of the polling stations in Bentiu, Jacob Chol Atem, spoke to Sudan Radio Service on Wednesday in Bentiu.

He said voters were casting their votes since they have agreed with the NEC about the payments although they are eagerly waiting to be paid.

In a related development, Leer County commissioner, ordered the arrest of some party agents.

SCR News correspondent says the move was intended to control voting in a place where elections are highly disputed between the SPLM and independent candidates for governor.
