GOVERNMENT WELCOMES FIGO, INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL STAR

The government spokesperson welcomed an international football player to Juba hoping his visist will boost the beautiful game in South Sudan.

Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press at his office that South Sudan is proud to welcome Luis Figo in Juba as the international footballer to visit the new nation, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said though South Sudan is being beaten in football, he hopes to shine when the young talented footballers are trained.

CEO Star Petroleum chairperson Farshad Zandi – who sponsored Figo’s visit – said his company built four clinics and now is working hard to bring a sports academy to South Sudan.

He said the company is planning to take South Sudanese coaches and ten young players to Madrid for training.

Mr Zandi added that after six months Star Petroleum wanted to see the outcome of the training.

Star Petroleum and Luis Figo are launching the South Sudan Football Academy on Tuesday to boost sports activities in the country.
