FIGO KICKS OFF FOOTBALL ACADEMY

A retired international football star arrived in Juba to kick off a football academy in South Sudan.

Luis Figo, a Portuguese legend who played for Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, arrived in Juba on Monday to start South Sudan Football Academy to coach promising young players.

Figo said at Juba International Airport he was very happy to be involved in the project.

He added that he came to South Sudan to hold a number of meetings to set up a football academy to develop sports in general and football in particular.

The Football Academy is an initiative of Star Petroleum, an international company based in Luxemburg with stakes in two oil blocks in Bar el Ghazal and Jonglei.
