South Sudan needs to go back to the period of 1972 when guanine democracy was the order of the day.
SSDF-Mainstream chairman Gabriel Changson Chan said the government of that time had little resources but managed to administer good governance, Bakhita Radio reported.He added that South Sudan now has a high capacity of human resources.
Mr Changson said from1972 to 1983, after the Addis Ababa Agreements, South Sudan was a role model for democracy: free, fair and peaceful elections were held at proper times.
He added that good governance was key for democracy.
He said the 2015 elections should signal the beginning of a proper democracy in South Sudan.
Mr Changson said it was difficult for opposition parties to meet the requirements put together by the ruling party for registration.
The political leader made the remarks on Saturday during the opening of the United Sudan African Party headquarters in Juba.
