A group of journalists from South Sudan is going to Kenya to cover the national general elections scheduled for Monday.
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the delegation includes reporters from the ministry of Information and private media.He said the journalists will spend one week in Kenya.
He did not elaborate how many they were and when they were leaving Juba.
Dr Marial underlined that a stable Kenya was important for South Sudan.
He cited that Kenya’s post election violence in January 2008 affected South Sudan.
Dr Marial said it was important for South Sudanese journalists to cover the Kenyan elections to monitor and inform the people on what was taking place in Kenya.
He explained that it is also good for South Sudanese to learn from the Kenyan elections for its 2015 vote.
Dr Marial said while in Kenya, the reporters will cover elections in Nairobi and other regions.
