Authorities in Yei River County said on Friday that they plan to celebrate International Women’s Day in Mugwo payam, an area known for violations of women’s rights.
The Chairperson of Yei Civil Society Organization Forum Sebit Nicholas said the Forum recommended that the 2013 Women’s Day to be celebrated in Mugwo due to violations of women’s rights in the payam, Radio Easter reported.He added that the local communities will participate in activities to address the issues of rape and killing of women in the payam.
