The Catholic Diocese of Torit launched its Caritas wing to strengthen the Church’s social arm.
The social development programmes of the Catholic Diocese of Torit including education, health, communication, food security were brought under Caritas on Thursday, Radio Emmanuel reportedBishop Johnson Akio Mutek of Torit said the transformation of social programmes into Caritas Torit was not easy but it was the manifestation of a dream.
He thanked partners who worked with the Diocese to serve the people during the war.
Bishop Akio observed that the dedication of diocesan social workers during the civil war was a sign of “Caritas”, the love to serve.
The mission of Caritas Torit is to promote peace, justice and reconciliation of society through integral human development.
