A workshop to help women protect themselves from Sudanese warplanes bombardment successfully ended in Kumbur Payam, Heiban County.
The meeting, which began on Monday, discussed security challenges faced by women during conflicts and how they could better protect themselves and their children.Sudanese warplanes have been bombing civilian target in Nuba Mountains since the war broke out in June 2011, after failed elections in South Kordofan State.
Mary E., Secretary for Social Care in Kumbur Payam, said the workshop taught women how to hide properly whenever they heard planes flying over the area.
She added that women also learned how to dig trenches.
Mary said women also discussed about hygiene and how to keep environments clean by reducing random dumping of waste around homes and public places.
The two-day workshop brought together women representatives and other dignitaries of Kumbur Payam.
