VOTER TURNOUT IN SOUTH LOWER THAN IN NORTHERN SUDAN

The National Election Commission (NEC) said voter turnout in Southern Sudan is so far lower than in the North.

The NEC deputy chairman Abdulla Ahmed Abdulla noted that the average percentage is the North is 67 percent.

Less people voted up till now in the South due to logistical problems and a late start.

Abculla Ahmed Abdulla praised though the turnout in Unity State which stands now at 65 percent and Jonglei with 60 percent.

Until yesterday two cases of election fraud have been reported by NEC.

Former American president Jimmy Carter, leader of a team of 70 observers, declared there is so far no proof of election fraud.
