A Dutch minister said on Monday in Juba that she was concerned about human rights violations and arbitrary detentions by South Sudan’s security operatives.
Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Minister Lilianne Ploumen told reporters in a news conference that the Dutch government was concern about reports of human rights violations in South Sudan.She said her government understood that the reform of the security sector took time but people needed to see some progress.
Ms Ploumen added that she learned from Dutch nationals working in South Sudan about the practice of arbitrary detentions.
She said the Dutch Government wanted such issues to be addressed.
Ms Ploumen said she would visit some security facilities in Juba and Bor before leaving the country on Tuesday evening.
