Thieves have been targeting Don Bosco Mission in Tonj, Warrap State, since Christmas 2012 and in two months it suffered over 25 break-ins.
Parish priest Shyjan George said the primary and secondary schools, teacher’s living quarters, the religious Sisters’ residence and compound, Don Bosco Hospital and the Parish Church and compound were broken into time and time again.He added that this week alone there were three break-ins, twice at the primary school and at a container of Don Bosco Hospital on Friday night.
Fr George said the primary school was robbed on Tuesday and Wednesday: thieves broke into school offices, a container, school store rooms and the school kitchen taking text books, stationery, supplies and all kitchen utensils.
Sr Shanty Antony told Don Bosco Radio that on Friday night thieves broke the padlocks and opened a container with hospital beds, mattresses, chairs, medicines and some other equipment.
She said thieves carried away many chairs and other needed medical supplies from the container.
Sr Shanty said that the items stolen from the container will affect the treatment and care given by Don Bosco Hospital.
She explained that the things that are in the mission in Tonj sre for the benefit of the people.
Sr Shanty asked people to look out and take care of Don Bosco Mission.
