Game rangers on Tuesday arrested four police officers and a prison warder for killing wild animals at Badingilo National Game Park in Eastern Equatoria.
Lieutenant Ejidio Oller Brown told Radio Emmanuel that he arrested five officers with four rifles, six dead animals and dry game meat.
He said the poachers had loaded the animals and the dry game meat into a lorry belonging to a non-governmental organization.
Lieutenant Oller identified prison warder Aleardo Ohide as the prime poaching suspect.
He said the four police officers would be investigated over their presence with guns in the National Game Park.
Wildlife Conservation Project for South Sudan Assistant Manager Paul Awol said individuals, the community, organized forces, soldiers and even wildlife forces were engaged in poaching.
Mr Awol said more the 300 animals are killed every day in different parts South Sudan.
He added that he feared that poaching would destroy the wildlife in the country.
