The Chairperson of the Committee of Legislation and Justice of the National Legislative Assembly said the review process of the Constitution should not be affected by other activities due to be implemented under the Transitional Constitution 2011.
Dengtiel Ayuen Kurr said there should be no fear to extend the review process even to two years, if the time was needed.Mr Ayuen clarified that the extension should not be linked to next elections, since they will happen even if the constitutional review process is not completed.
He made the remark after the public requested enough time for extensive civic education and public consultation for the first exercise of constitution making in South Sudan.
Mr Ayuen was speaking during the public hearing called by the Committee to hear views from the public on Friday at the National Assembly.
