Police arrested the Friendship Record studio producer Saturday morning for allegedly selling the studio computer screen.

Western Equatoria Artists Association vice-president Christopher Malesh BB1 opened a police case accusing producer Daniel Arereng of theft, Anisa Radio reported.

Mr BB1 explained that Mr Arereng was very good and paid regularly until he got a bad friend called Mr Life who misled him to sell studio equipment and escape to Uganda.

He stated that Mr Arereng sold a monitor and a guitar wire.

He was caught early Saturday morning with clothes packed in bags trying to escape with his friend.

Mr Arereng denied the accusation of theft saying that he lent the monitor for 500 Pounds to the Ugandan to sustain his needs and promised to recover it after refunding.

He complained that the former president of the Artists Association, Ambassadeur Koko, brought him to Yambio to work in the Friendship Studio, but he was not cared for as promised.

David Lukyamuzi, who owns a saloon in Yambio, was also arrested for complicity with the producer.

He denied buying the monitor from Mr. Arereng but he gave him 500 Pounds to be paid back.

The police said they needed more investigations before freeing the suspects.

Friendship Studio was built by Governor Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro to promote the artists of Western Equatoria in terms of music quality.
