A SSTV journalist who was detained by the National Security said he was safely released and pledged to fight for reform in that government owned media.
Garang John said in a statement posted on Journalists of South Sudan Facebook page that he was released unharmed by the National Security after one night’s detention.He added that he would like to inform friends, colleagues and relatives that he was safe.
Mr John said he did not commit any crime but his stance against corruption and nepotism in the national TV was the reason for his arrest.
He added that the fight for reform on SSTV will continue to ensure that viewers get better services and the state-owned TV promotes professionalism and efficiency.
Mr John alleged that the person behind his detention wanted him dead and he vowed to deal with him after he was let go by the security.
He denounced that SSTV charges fees to cover stories but the money is diverted to the private account of the person heading the institution.
