The Council of Ministers in its Friday ordinary sitting approved a supplementary budget for the ministry of Foreign Affairs to the tune of 96.3 million Pounds to run 22 representations abroad.
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press that the budget is to cover the embassies in Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, AU, Uganda, Egypt, Zimbabwe, South Africa, DR Congo, Russia, China, Belgium, Norway, India, Germany, Turkey, Geneva, Nigeria, UN and other countries.He explained that the ministry of Finance will present the budget to the National Legislative Assembly for ratification to improve South Sudan’s missions abroad.
Dr Marial said the cabinet also endorsed three Bills: Labour Bill 2013, Public Procurement and Disposal Bill 2013 and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species Bills with amendments.
Justice Minister John Luk Jok presented the three Bills which will be tabled at the National Legislative Assembly for ratification.
President Salva Kiir, who chaired the Council of Ministers, briefed the Cabinet about the AU summit in Addis Ababa, and the meetings he held with Omar al Bashir and other presidents at the sidelines of the summit.
