A contesting candidate for Women’s list in Terekeka said people in that county of Central Equatoria seemingly are not yet ready for democracy.
Lilli Cafuki Paul, from the Southern Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF), told Bakhita Radio that her party agents were detained for some hours yesterday; their badges removed and they were prevented from observing the voting process.

Ms. Cafuki added the SSDF is considering withdrawing its agents from Terekeka county for fear of further threats and violence.

Ms Cafuki said international observers have been deployed only in Terekeka town but that there are not domestic observers in Terekeka County.

She added there is only one police officer in every voting center.

Ms Cafuki appeals to the State High Electoral Commission, the government and to the Carter Center and the government of southern Sudan for help.

Ms. Cafuki added that Abraham Pitia Manyare, also a contesting candidate, asked southerners to respect different political opinions as they are one people, children of the same region.
