In several rural areas of Heiban County, Southern Kordofan State, elections did not start on Sunday as scheduled due to logistical problems.
Dozens of people were waiting around polling centres to cast their votes, Radio Voice of Peace reported from Gidele.
Unfortunately no election commission turned up with the ballot boxes and people were told to go back home.

Speaking to Voice of Peace Radio, Magbul Karashid a local polling agent, said security arrived without ballot boxes at the centre.

Mr. Karashid added that he sent a message to the Election Commission in Kauda about the missing ballot boxes and was told that it was logistical problem.

Mr. Karashid wondered whether people who were not able to vote on Sunday would get an extra day to cast their ballot.

He urged voters not to give up but to continue waiting at the polling stations to fulfil their civic right.
