Delayed distribution of election material in Eastern Equatoria state has dragged the start of the exercise to six hour in some polling stations while the earliest vote cast in the state started two hours late.
Yet the process has started peacefully, despite delays and disappoint.
The first voter in Eastern Equatoria state cast his vote at 10:15 am in Nyong Boma polling station 01, about two hours behind the official time.
The delay stemmed from late delivery of ballot boxes, ballot papers and other election material use at the polling stations.
Marcelo Otwari Dominic one of the candidates for state Legislative Assembly the first voter at Nyong Boma Polling Station 001 but he was among lucky voters to find their names at the registration centre.
Some voters could not find their names at the polling stations of their registration and this forced them to move from one to four other locations in search of where to vote.
Most affected are the disabled persons, pregnant women and the elderly persons who could not afford to trek the distances from one polling station to another under a scotching sun heat on foot.
A 70 year old Simon Ohisa, amputated victims of the civil war, was one of those who gave up the search for their names on Sunday.
He told the press that he would not dare continue after limping to three stations without success.
But Mr. Ohisa said he could not completely surrender to vote, instead he would come back the following day.
An election officer, Mr. Charles Abasi, told the press that there was a mix up of the voter’s register.
He said that registration booklets of the one polling station were delivered to another causing confusion on the names in the list.
