The Office of the President issued a statement on Tuesday expressing surprise by the announcement that the SPLM-DC did not sanction the appointment of Sisto Olur Erista to the National Constitution Review Commission.

The SPLM-DC vetoed Mr Olur’s appointment saying he was not a member of the party.

The Presidential Press Office explained that the SPLM-DC Acting Secretary General recommended Mr Olur’s appointment as part time member of the Commission to replace Yohanis Yor Akol who resigned.

Minority leader Onyoti Adigo Nyikwac said the SPLM-DC Acting Secretary General had no powers to make any recommendations for the appointment of the Party members to the Commission.

The Office of the President denied accusations to have acted unilaterally in the appointment of Mr Olur as SPLM-DC representative to the Constitution Commission.
