The national government has condemned inter-clans fighting that took place in Rumbek last week killing 25 people and wounding 30.

Spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told CRN Monday that the Government condemned politicians who encouraged fighting fuelled by local prejudices.

He warned that the Government would take serious measures to identify the culprits and make them face the rule of law.

Dr Marial said social misunderstandings in some communities could lead to an enormous loss of lives due to the widespread use of firearms.

He said unless the communities are fully disarmed, killings may continue to happen.

Dr Marial added that the Government was concerned about the incidents in Rumbek and was waiting for a report from the Interior Ministry to take further steps.
